Bitexco Financial Tower honored to receive the award of “The Excellence in structure engineering 2011”, presented by NCSEA
Ho Chi Minh City (30 November, 2011) – Bitexco Financial Tower has been received the “Excellence in structure engineering awards 2011” in the “International structure over $100 million” category. The award and plaque were issued and confirmed by The National Council of Structure Associations (NCSEA) of United States on 22 October, 2011.
Bitexco Financial Tower won the title “Outstanding Project” in “International structure over $100 million” award category and confirmed Leslie E.Robertson Associates (LERA) as the structure engineer consultant of this project.

The National Council of Structural Engineers Associations (NCSEA) was formed to constantly improve the level of standard of practice of the structural engineering profession throughout the United States, and to provide an identifiable resource for those needing communication with the profession. NCSEA serves to advance the practice of structural engineering and, as the autonomous national voice for practicing structural engineers, protect the public’s right to safe, sustainable and cost effective buildings, bridges and other structures.
 
The excellence in structure engineering awards in 2011 is one of the annual activity of NCSEA. This is the 14th time this award has been held to recognize creative achievement and innovation in structural engineering. All awards are given based on the judgement criterias of the creativity of structural design, the complexity of criteria or unique problems, the innovative application of new or existing materials or techniques, the Ingenuity of design for efficient use of materials and labor, the Exceeding client/ owner’s needs or expectations, and the suitability of the structure for its environment.
 
Prizes
Awards will be presented in eight project categories:
• New Buildings under $10 Million
• New Buildings $10 Million to $30 Million
• New Buildings $30 Million to $100 Million
• New Buildings over $100 Million
• International Structures over $100 Million
• New Bridge and Transportation Structures
• Forensic / Renovation / Retrofit / Rehabilitation Structures
• Other Structures
 
Up to three entries in each category will be chosen to receive the NCSEA Excellence in Structural Engineering Award. From those three winners, one will be chosen as an “NCSEA Outstanding Project”.
Bitexco Group – The Project Developer of the Bitexco Financial Tower is proud to be awarded as the outstanding project in the category of “International Structures over $100 million”. Last year, in the same award category, the winner belonged to Burj Khalifa – The world iconic tower, and currently the tallest building in the world. The other two projects that also received the awards in the same category as Bitexco Financial Tower’s are United States Embassy in Bejing, China and the Altra Sede Regione Lombardia in Milan City, Italy.
 
The judging criterias for Bitexco Financial Tower’s award were based on the sophisticated and sustainable structure that built with 21st century construction standards, innovative structural engineering decisions which influenced basement excavation, helipad assemblage, and the outrigger truss design, along with high safety practices onsit.
 
The first Grade A plus commercial property in Ho Chi Minh City, BFT set new benchmarks for Vietnam’s construction industry. Constructed by an international development team, and built to world-class standards. LERA was the structure engineering consultant and Carlos Zapata Studio was the architectural firm behind the delicate lotus flower design of BFT, a fitting image that emblems for Vietnam’s rapid development and growing importance as an emerging economy.
